Quick answer

French tax residents carry several patrimonial reporting duties: every foreign bank, securities and life-insurance account is declared on Form 3916 and foreign crypto accounts on Form 3916-bis (Article 1649 A CGI; €1,500 per undeclared account, €10,000 in a non-cooperative State under Article 1736 IV). Households whose net taxable real estate exceeds €1,300,000 on 1 January owe the IFI, declared on annexe 2042-IFI (Articles 964–983 CGI). Succession is governed by the réserve héréditaire (Articles 912–913 Code Civil) and the default communauté réduite aux acquêts regime. AdminLanding's Patrimoine module is a rule-based diagnostic that tells you which of these apply, which forms to file and what to gather — it is information, not financial, tax or legal advice. Documents are produced in French; the interface is bilingual EN/FR.

Four modules, one diagnostic

Each answers a different question about your assets and returns a clear list of administrative steps.

Patrimoine diagnostic

Answer a few questions about your assets (real estate, investments, foreign holdings, family situation) and get the list of administrative obligations that apply to you.

Tax & declarations

Understand which reporting obligations follow from rental income, foreign income and capital gains — and which official forms and boxes they map to.

Estate & marital regimes

Plain-language guidance on succession planning, the réserve héréditaire and marital property regimes, with the steps and documents to gather.

Cross-border patrimoine

Foreign bank accounts, securities, life-insurance and digital-asset declarations (Form 3916 / 3916-bis) and international estate obligations.

The declarations that trip people up

Sourced from the Code Général des Impôts and the Code Civil — with the article behind each rule.

Form 3916 — foreign accounts

Every French tax resident must declare each bank, securities and life-insurance account held abroad (Article 1649 A of the Code Général des Impôts). Non-declaration is fined €1,500 per account, rising to €10,000 where the account is held in a State without an administrative-assistance agreement with France (Article 1736 IV CGI).

Form 3916-bis — digital assets

Accounts holding crypto-assets on foreign platforms are declared on Form 3916-bis, on the same annual return. The obligation exists whatever the balance; only the account, not each transaction, is reported.

IFI — real-estate wealth tax

The IFI applies when your household's net taxable real-estate assets exceed €1,300,000 on 1 January. It is declared with your income return on annexe 2042-IFI, on a progressive scale from 0.5% to 1.5% (Articles 964 to 983 CGI). Our diagnostic flags when the threshold may be in play — it does not compute or file the tax for you.

Succession & marital regime

French succession law protects a reserved share for children (réserve héréditaire, Articles 912–913 of the Code Civil), and the default marital regime is the communauté réduite aux acquêts (Article 1400 Code Civil). The module explains which rules apply to your situation and what to prepare before seeing a notaire.

A durable history that recalculates itself

Your patrimonial situation changes — a marriage, a purchase, an inheritance, a move abroad, a new child. The module keeps only your answers (never the report), so every saved analysis is re-run against the current rules when you open it. One tap re-plays your latest answers with the relevant question highlighted, and the new report shows what changed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Foreign accounts, IFI, succession and the module itself.

What does the Patrimoine module actually do?
It is a rule-based diagnostic, not an advisor. You describe your situation and it identifies which French administrative forms and procedures apply, lists the documents to gather, and points to the competent authority. An optional AI step only rephrases the result for clarity — every conclusion is produced by fixed rules, and no financial, tax or legal advice is given.
Do I have to declare foreign bank accounts if they hold almost nothing?
Yes. Article 1649 A of the CGI requires declaring every foreign account you hold, use or have closed during the year, regardless of balance. The €1,500-per-account penalty (Article 1736 IV) applies to undeclared accounts even when dormant. The module surfaces this obligation when you indicate you hold assets abroad.
At what point does the IFI concern me?
The IFI is due when your household's net taxable real-estate assets exceed €1,300,000 on 1 January of the tax year. It covers property held directly and through companies, minus deductible related debts. Below the threshold there is nothing to file. Above it, you declare on annexe 2042-IFI with your income return. The diagnostic flags the threshold; it does not value your property.
Is my analysis stored?
Only your answers are saved as a durable history — the report itself is recalculated each time you open an analysis, so it always reflects the current rules. You can delete any saved analysis at any time, and life-event chips (married, bought property, inherited, moved abroad, new child) let you re-run the diagnostic with your latest answers pre-filled.
How much does it cost?
The Patrimoine Pack is a one-time €19 (50 document generations + the encrypted vault, no subscription). It is also included in the Landlord Starter bundle (€59, with the Rental Pack) and the Expat Starter bundle (€39, with the Cross-Border Pack), and in the Full Starter bundle (€79).
Are the generated documents in English?
No. The interface is bilingual English/French, but the documents and declarations are produced in French so they are valid for the French administration. The English UI simply explains each step and field as you go.

Important: AdminLanding is a technology platform, not a law firm, wealth manager or accountant. The Patrimoine module provides administrative guidance only — not financial, tax, legal or investment advice — and does not value your assets or file anything on your behalf. Figures and thresholds cited here reflect the rules in force on the date shown and may change; always verify on impots.gouv.fr and, for your specific situation, consult a qualified professional (notaire, avocat, expert-comptable).

Secure Vault — included with every pack

Store your generated documents in an encrypted vault. Administrative Intelligence reports, fiscal analyses, CERFA forms, rent receipts, letters — all your generated documents in one secure place, encrypted on your device before upload.
